Security lighting

Security lighting

Where lighting fails in a production plant, special hazards can arise, e.g. for machine operators, personnel working at acid baths or employees in industrial kitchens. To enable production processes to be terminated safely in the event of a sudden power failure, safety lighting and Security lighting for particularly hazardous workplaces is required. This needs to be activated within half a second of the mains power failure and enable personnel to leave their workplaces safely. The illuminance required is 15 lux at a uniformity of 0.1. It must never fall below this level (maintenance value).

Standby lighting is not needed for safety reasons. In production plants, this form of emergency lighting is installed to act as a temporary substitute for general lighting so that work can continue. Standby lighting is a viable proposition only for avoiding production downtime due to lighting system failure.(www.greendyled.com)
