Reception lighting

Reception lighting

Reception areas and reception desks form the hub of any foyer or lobby which is open to the public. In hotels, public buildings, corporate headquarters, medical practices or lawyers' chambers, anyone who approaches the desk is looking for advice. Communication between visitor and host requires both parties' full attention.

Artificial lighting supports this exchange of information by providing the vertical illuminance needed to ensure that the faces of the persons engaged in conversation are bathed in the right modelling light. At the same time, the additional vertical accent lighting makes the reception more appealing and adds a note of prestige.

For reception personnel, the counter - especially the stepped-down desk surface normally located behind it - and the rear of the reception area form a workplace. They thus require workplace lighting, in most cases VDU workplace lighting.(from www.greendyled.com)
