Indoor car park lighting

Correct lighting heightens road safety in underground and multi-storey car parks. It helps users get their bearings and makes people, vehicles, boundaries and obstacles easier to distinguish. It also gives users a greater sense of security. And rightly so: a relatively high lighting level in a car park acts as a deterrent to crime.

Indoor car parks lighting have been covered by the lighting requirements set out in DIN EN 12464-1. DIN EN 12464-2 relates to outdoor parking facilities.

DIN EN 12464-1 makes distinctions between different lighting assignments in indoor car parks: in/out ramps, traffic lanes, parking areas.
